The College at Brockport, Design-Build Residence Hall

Project: Eagle Hall, Residence Hall, the College at Brockport  

DASNY’s Role: Constructed by DASNY utilizing design-build. 

Details: The 256- bed residence hall completed in late summer 2018 was constructed using an innovative panelized construction system that allowed wall components of the four-story building to be built in an old-site factory at the same time site work and foundations were being prepared. 

The building is steel construction with concrete floors. Its safety features include full sprinkler and fire alarms systems, state-of-the-art security systems and card access throughout. Spaces are built to foster student learning and collaborative study, including a smart classroom, multi-purpose room, and other features to enhance student interaction. The residence hall was designed and constructed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards under the U.S. Green Building Council’s sustainability and energy efficiency guidelines. 

Impact: The project is among the fastest delivered by DASNY, thanks to design-build, a procurement method that speeds design and construction timelines while keeping costs down.
